The 2024 National Conclave in Georgia was a testament to the enduring spirit of the Epagneul Breton community and our shared passion for this remarkable breed. Over four unforgettable days, we gathered to celebrate the rich traditions of the Epagneul Breton, blending thrilling field trials, elegant conformation events, and warm camaraderie.

Day 1: The Conclave began with a wild trial at the stunning Canaan Farms, graciously hosted by Hal Avery. The picturesque grounds offered the perfect setting for the EBs to showcase their natural instincts and versatility. The crisp air and challenging terrain brought out the best in dogs and handlers alike, setting the tone for an exciting week ahead.

Day 2: We traveled south to the Lumpkin, GA area, where a second day of wild trials unfolded across various local farms. The Epagneul Bretons once again proved their adaptability, excelling in new terrain and finding birds with ease. The day concluded with a thrilling barrage in the GUN Solo class, leaving the spectators buzzing about the breed’s skill and determination.

Day 3: Shifting from the fields to the ring, we turned our attention to the conformation event, a beautiful reminder of the harmony between form and function that defines the Epagneul Breton. Judges and spectators alike admired the breed’s classic elegance, and the show ring buzzed with enthusiasm. The evening brought a highlight of the Conclave—the annual auction—where generous donors and bidders came together to support the club and its mission.

Day 4: The final day returned us to the field for liberated trials, culminating in exciting barrages in both the OPEN Solo and GUN Solo classes. The competition was fierce but friendly, reflecting the heart of our community: a shared love of the breed and its abilities.

We are deeply grateful to the Epagneul Breton Gun Dog Club of Georgia, our local host club, for their invaluable contributions to this week’s event. Their dedication to organizing local resources and preparing the groundwork was instrumental in bringing the Conclave to life. The Southern hospitality they extended to the EB community was truly heartwarming, and we cannot thank them enough for their tireless behind-the-scenes efforts.

Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed fantastic food, lively conversation, and warm connections that are hallmarks of the EB community. None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of volunteers and the generosity of those who donated food, auction items, and their time.

​

As we reflect on this incredible Conclave, we are reminded of why we come together year after year: to celebrate our dogs, honor the bird dog tradition, and strengthen the bonds within our community.
