Committees: Where the Work Happens

Last week we shared an update on changes to the CEB-US Board of Directors. This week, we'd like to shift the focus to the committees that help make everything the club accomplishes possible.

While the Board provides direction and governance, committees are where much of the day-to-day work gets done. Whether it's organizing events, growing membership, creating educational resources, or raising funds, committees give members an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of the Epagneul Breton and the community that surrounds it.

You don't need decades of experience or a specific title to get involved — just a willingness to lend a hand and share your enthusiasm for the breed.

Open Committee Positions

Auction & Fundraiser Committee Chair

The club's primary fundraising event each year is the auction held during the National Conclave. Proceeds from the auction help support the Conclave while also funding club initiatives that preserve, promote, and educate others about the Epagneul Breton.

We're looking for a volunteer to serve as Committee Chair. Responsibilities include coordinating the auction, soliciting donated items, organizing logistics, and managing the behind-the-scenes details that make the event successful. It's a great opportunity to have a direct impact on the club's ability to serve its members.

National Conclave Field Trial Secretary (2027)

We're also seeking a volunteer to serve as the Field Trial Secretary for the 2027 National Conclave in Spencer, Iowa.

Responsibilities include collecting entries, organizing run orders for each class and battery, compiling official results, and submitting the results to the UKC. This position requires attendance at the National Conclave and plays an important role in ensuring the field trial runs smoothly from start to finish.

Even if you're not ready to lead a committee, we'd love to have you involved.

We've recently seen a resurgence in participation on both the Membership and Marketing Committees, and that renewed energy is already paying dividends through increased member engagement and stronger communication across the club.

The reality is that many committee tasks only require a few hours of your time throughout the year. Whether it's welcoming new members, helping at events, sharing club news on social media, or simply telling the story of the Epagneul Breton, every contribution makes a difference. Many hands make light work, and a small commitment from several members allows the club to accomplish far more than a handful of volunteers ever could.

Interested in Serving on the Board?

We've also received a few questions recently about how members can become part of the CEB-US Board of Directors.

The Nomination Committee is always looking for qualified candidates to present for appointment. The committee consists of Tasha Pleskac, Patty Lucasey, and Colin Johnston.

Board nominees are typically members who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the club through committee service, participation in regional club activities, and a genuine passion for the Epagneul Breton community.
