CEB-US Mission Statement Part 6 - A Final Reflection on the Purpose of the CEB-US

Updated: 4 days ago

Our Mission, Our Community

As we close out our series on the CEB-US Mission Statement, we invite you to reflect with us on what truly drives our work as a club — and as a community. If you missed the earlier parts, you can start from the beginning here:

Provide a forum for fellowship, friendship and mutual cooperation among owners and fanciers of the Epagneul Breton.

This final line of our mission isn’t just a closing statement — it’s the heart of everything we do. The Epagneul Breton may be what brought us together, but it’s the friendships, mentorships, and shared stories that keep this community alive. Whether it’s at a field trial, a training day, or simply through an online conversation, fellowship is the heartbeat of the CEB-US.

The mission of the CEB-US is, first and foremost, centered on the Epagneul Breton. Our purpose is simple and unwavering: to protect and promote the breed as a true representative of its heritage. Every standard, event, and initiative we support begins and ends with that focus. By keeping the dog at the center, we stay grounded — free from distractions that could pull us away from what matters most: preserving the unique qualities that make the Breton who it is.

That clarity ensures we elevate the breed above all else — not individuals, not trends, not outside agendas. It’s our compass, pointing us back to the traditions and values that define the Epagneul Breton as a world-class gun dog.

A Mission Rooted in People

There’s a reason the first six points of our mission focus on the betterment of the breed. But it’s equally intentional that the final point focuses on the people. That wasn’t an afterthought — it was a reminder. A reminder that while we protect the dog, we must also nurture the community that surrounds it.

Because the community makes the breed possible.

The Epagneul Breton community is made up of generous volunteers, passionate owners, dedicated breeders, and newcomers eager to learn. Without that collective effort — without you — the breed cannot thrive. You chose the Breton because you saw something special in it, and by doing so, you became part of something special too: a network of people who care deeply about this little French bird dog and the tradition it carries forward.

The Club in the Background

Our role as a national club isn’t to stand in the spotlight — it’s to connect, support, and empower the people who do. We’re the quiet partner behind the scenes, helping organize events, maintain standards, and build the structure that allows this community to flourish.

Every time you attend a trial, share a story, or mentor a newcomer, you’re fulfilling our mission in ways far more powerful than words on a page. The CEB-US simply exists to make those moments possible — to be the bridge that connects passion to purpose.

We also welcome healthy debate, differing perspectives, and constructive feedback. Every conversation, question, and challenge helps us grow stronger as an organization. It’s through open dialogue that we can learn, adapt, and better serve both the breed and the people who love it.

You Are Part of the Story

We need your voice, your energy, and your talents. Whether you have ten minutes to help check in participants at a trial or want to serve on a committee, your involvement — no matter how small — has a ripple effect that strengthens both the club and the breed. Join us at a future event.

Because at the end of the day, without this community, there’s no one to celebrate the Epagneul Breton. No one to appreciate the beauty of a point in the field, the grace of a dog in conformation, or the quiet bond that makes this breed so unforgettable. That’s why we work so hard to keep this community connected — because it’s not just about preserving the Epagneul Breton; it’s about sharing it.

Whether you’re an avid hunter, a dedicated field trialer, or a weekend adventurer who simply loves walking behind your dog, we thank you. You are the lifeblood of this community — the ones who give purpose to our mission and ensure the Epagneul Breton’s legacy continues to thrive.

Together, we ensure the breed not only survives — but flourishes.
