CEB-US Mission Statement Part 5 - Spreading the Word & Protecting the Future of the Epagneul Breton

Updated: 5 days ago

At CEB-US, our mission is more than a statement — it’s a reflection of who we are as a community. Each part of it represents shared values, collective responsibility, and a vision for the future of the Epagneul Breton. These aren’t just ideals on paper — they are commitments lived out every day by members across the country, with CEB-US serving as the foundation and resource that supports their efforts.

This is part 5 of our series exploring how the CEB-US Mission Statement comes to life in action. Catch up on past installments → to see how we’ve highlighted other ways our community educates, supports, and celebrates the breed.

Two of the core pillars of the CEB-US Mission Statement are:

  • Educate the public and media about the Epagneul Breton breed in the United States and around the world.

  • Advocate ethical and responsible breeding practices among breeders of the Epagneul Breton through a voluntary Code of Ethics.

These guiding principles shape everything we do — as individuals, regional clubs, and a national organization. From education and outreach to breeder support and event programming, our shared goal is to honor the past, elevate the present, and protect the future of the Epagneul Breton in North America.

Educating the Public & Media

The story of the Epagneul Breton is best told by the people who live it. Across the uplands, at training days, and in everyday encounters, our members bring the breed to life — sharing its intelligence, warmth, and natural hunting instinct with others. Every question about this little pointing breed becomes a chance to tell the Breton’s story and spark new interest in the breed.

CEB-US exists to help those moments grow. Through educational content, social media, and events, we amplify the voices of our members and expand the reach of the breed. At events such as Pheasant Fest, members and their dogs engage directly with thousands of upland hunters and bird dog enthusiasts, helping others discover what makes the Breton so special.

Our annual National Conclave continues that mission — bringing together members for field trials, conformation shows, seminars, and community discussions. It’s more than a showcase; it’s a place to learn, connect, and celebrate the breed we all love. Each year, an internationally recognized judge joins us to evaluate dogs and share insights that keep our understanding true to the breed’s roots.

Regional clubs carry this mission forward by hosting local trials, shows, and educational days that welcome newcomers and strengthen our community. CEB-US supports these efforts with resources and guidance, empowering local members to lead the way.

And every day, education continues through you — the member who answers a question, mentors a newcomer, or shares their dog’s story. Thank you for representing the Epagneul Breton with such passion and pride. Together, we’re ensuring that this remarkable breed’s story continues to be told, celebrated, and lived.

Advocating Ethical Breeding Practices

Preserving the Epagneul Breton’s health, temperament, and working ability takes care, collaboration, and long-term commitment. Our breeders play a vital role in this mission — their consistency, integrity, and dedication to the breed standard ensure that each generation reflects the true spirit of the Epagneul Breton. But this commitment isn’t carried by breeders alone. It’s a partnership between the community and the club. CEB-US provides the tools, data, and opportunities that help breeders make informed choices — from hosting field trials, conformation evaluations, and breed data to facilitating mentorship connections. These resources empower breeders to uphold the traits that define the Epagneul Breton while strengthening the breed’s presence across North America.

Through these shared efforts, we not only protect the Epagneul Breton’s heritage but also cultivate a culture of stewardship and collaboration that ensures its continued excellence.

Every litter produced with care, every evaluation attended, and every conversation about responsible breeding strengthens our foundation as a community. Thank you to every breeder, mentor, and owner who approaches this work with integrity and purpose. Together, we are preserving the heart of the Epagneul Breton for generations to come.

Our Shared Future

The future of the Epagneul Breton is built on the strength of its community — people who value learning, integrity, and purpose. Whether you’re helping a first-time owner, attending an event, or standing behind your dog in the field, you’re part of that legacy.

Together, we educate.

Together, we advocate.

Together, we ensure that the Epagneul Breton’s story continues — vibrant, authentic, and strong.
