Understanding Single Registration for Epagneul Bretons with UKC

In the world of purebred dogs, registration plays a crucial role in preserving lineage and breed standards. For Epagneul Bretons, the process of single registration with the United Kennel Club (UKC) is vital, especially for breeders and owners seeking official recognition in the United States.

What is Single Registration? Single registration allows purebred dogs, already recognized by UKC or registered with UKC-acknowledged registries, to attain UKC/FDSB registration. This process is particularly useful for breeders importing EBs from Europe who wish to establish their dog's pedigree with the UKC.

Why is it Important? Single registration serves as a bridge for ensuring the authenticity and pedigree of imported EBs in the US. It provides breeders and owners with a clear path to officially register their dogs under UKC standards, maintaining breed integrity and documentation. This oversight by the CEB-US is a key function of the club to uphold the breed's integrity.

Rules for Single Registration To qualify for single registration of Epagneul Bretons with UKC, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Completed UKC Application for Single Registration for Epagneul Breton.

  2. Copy of the dog's registration certificate from a UKC-acknowledged registry (e.g., AKC, CKC, Kennel Club of Great Britain, NAVHDA, FCI affiliated registry).

  3. For dogs with UKC registered parents, provide UKC registration numbers and names of the sire and dam.

  4. Submission of four color photographs showing each side and two from the front, with the dog standing in all photos.

  5. Complete three-generation pedigree documentation, either as a photocopy or handwritten.

Verification Process The lineage of non-UKC registered Epagneul Bretons within at least five generations must be verified by CEB-US to confirm purebred status. This scrutiny ensures that each dog added to the UKC registry meets stringent breed standards.
