What is the CEB-US?
Purpose-built. Field-proven. Where French heritage meets American uplands.
The CEB-US is the connection point for people who love the Epagneul Breton — uniting hunters, breeders, and enthusiasts into one passionate community. We honor the breed’s rich heritage while supporting one another through shared knowledge, mentorship, events, and resources. Together, we’re ensuring the Epagneul Breton continues to thrive as both a trusted bird dog in the field and a cherished companion at home.

Our Story
The Club de l’Épagneul Breton of the United States (CEB-US) was founded by a small group of passionate fanciers of the original French Brittany Spaniel who sought to preserve the breed’s authentic French characteristics and distinguish it from the American Brittany. Their goal was to prevent the drift from the original standard that had occurred in other working breeds by establishing a club dedicated to maintaining the guidelines set forth by the French nearly a century earlier.
On August 30, 1997, at a meeting held in a barn in Missouri, the group elected officers and wrote a mission statement outlining their vision for the breed’s future in the United States. Just three months later, CEB-US was officially incorporated, and the work to promote and protect the Epagneul Breton began in earnest.
Through the dedication and hard work of CEB-US members — working in partnership with the United Kennel Club — the Epagneul Breton was officially recognized by the UKC in 2002, securing its rightful place as a distinct and authentic French hunting breed in the United States.
Since that milestone, the CEB-US has grown into a strong, connected community of hunters, breeders, and enthusiasts spanning nearly every state — and reaching well beyond our borders. Our members share a deep commitment to preserving the breed’s French standard while welcoming anyone who wants to learn, hunt, and share in the joy of these remarkable dogs. Together, we’ve earned international respect for the quality, consistency, and character of our Epagneul Bretons — and for the enthusiasm and unity that define our community.
Today, the CEB-US serves as a community connector — uniting people who love the Epagneul Breton through education, mentorship, and shared experiences. Through field trials, conformation shows, and community events, we work together to ensure the Epagneul Breton continues to thrive as both a purpose-built hunting partner and a beloved companion.
